
In his new role, Richard provides expert services to P&I and H&M insurers, brokers, lawyers, shipowners, managers, and port operators, offering authoritative expertise on crane damage, technical failures, and operational performance issues.
Richard brings more than 25 years of specialist experience across the maritime and industrial sectors, where he held senior roles in the United Kingdom and the United States. Richard’s extensive background spans engineering management, crane design, procurement, installation, and maintenance, as well as accident investigation, and expert reporting. He has acted as an expert witness in arbitration and court proceedings and provided oral evidence during depositions and hearings.
Richard holds a BEng (Hons) in Mechatronics from the University of London, complemented by professional credentials including OSHA & WISHA Maritime and Construction Surveyor qualifications and a State of Alaska Professional Engineer licensure (PE).
In his new position, Richard will lead Solis Marine’s crane engineering practice, focusing on:
• Crane damage investigations, encompassing both shipboard and landside equipment.
• Expert reports for arbitration, litigation, and insurance claims.
• Charterparty dispute support, particularly where crane performance, downtime or cause of damage is contested.
• Loss prevention advice for marine insurers.
• Surveys for condition assessment, compliance, and risk evaluation.
His appointment reinforces Solis Marine’s commitment to delivering high-quality expert services to the maritime, insurance, and legal sectors.
