Kalaichelvan is a mariner with over 12 years of specialised experience in marine surveying and incident investigation. He gained seagoing experience on product oil tankers, container vessels and VLCC (Very Large Crude Carriers), having served as Second Officer and assisted with liquid cargo operations and numerous Ship-to-Ship (lightering) operations.
He brings particular expertise in P&I Club investigations and casualty management, having successfully investigated complex claims involving groundings, contact damage, and Hull and Machinery underwriter cases. Kalaichelvan served as the designated P&I Club surveyor for two major oil spill incidents in the Johor Strait and Tanjung Pelepas Port area, demonstrating his capability in handling high-profile and environmentally sensitive cases.
His technical investigation work focuses on tanker casualties including cargo contamination, off-specification cargo issues, internal tank leakage, and heating system malfunctions. In his previous role as Operations Manager, he oversaw all aspects of survey operations including team management, equipment calibration programs, and the execution of a comprehensive range of marine surveys from outturn surveys to complex casualty investigations.
He now brings his extensive regional knowledge and expertise in Southeast Asian maritime operations to support Solis Marine's growing client base across Asia.
