Afri is a marine surveyor based in Jakarta, Indonesia, providing local representation for shipowners and insurers in relation to shipping incidents and casualties across the region. His work includes on-site and onboard attendance for damage assessment and coordination of casualty response.

His salvage and wreck removal experience includes liaison with local authorities and contractors, management of on-site operations and pollution response. He has worked closely with salvage contractors on oil removal operations, overseeing hot-tapping procedures, diving operations, container and cargo recovery and pollution risk mitigation.

Prior to joining Solis Marine, Afri spent over 15 years with Minton Treharne & Davies in Singapore, where he specialised as a bulk solid cargo consultant with particular expertise in self-heating coal and cargoes liable to liquefy. As Laboratory Manager, he was responsible for equipment calibration and testing for Transportable Moisture Limit, liquid limit, particle size distribution and density. He developed significant experience across a broad range of survey work, including distressed cargo management, container and containerised cargo inspections, grain and food cargo sampling, and oil, petroleum and chemical cargo surveys.

He began his career as a shipyard engineer in Indonesia, supervising ship repair and new vessel construction, before moving into marine survey work conducting general surveys for P&I and H&M insurers, shipowners, charterers and cargo underwriters.
