Solis Marine Appoints Gary Rawlings as Global Head of Marine Engineering Services

Solis Marine is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Rawlings as Global Head of Marine Engineering Services, based in our London office.

Gary brings over 40 years of marine engineering experience to the role, spanning sea-going service, technical fleet management, P&I risk management and 12 years in marine consultancy. He will lead Solis Marine's expert marine engineering services worldwide, acting on behalf of P&I and H&M insurers, shipowners, managers, charterers and law firms.

His responsibilities include investigating main engine and machinery damage, engine room fires, blackouts and flooding, performance and bunker disputes, and newbuilding disputes, as well as preparing expert evidence for court and arbitration proceedings.

Gary joins from another London-based consultancy, where he spent 12 years as a consultant marine engineer, carrying out numerous casualty, incident and dispute investigations. He has appeared as an expert witness in the High Court, the Coroner’s Court, the Shanghai Maritime Court, in arbitration and mediation, and has given deposition evidence in American court proceedings.

Gary's appointment follows the recent arrival of Andrew Lynch as Regional Head of Marine Engineering Services in Singapore, further strengthening our marine engineering capability worldwide, with two marine engineers in London, one in Singapore and one in South Africa.

"Gary combines deep hands-on engineering experience with a proven track record as an expert witness in courts and tribunals around the world," said Rosalind Blazejczyk, CEO of Solis Marine. "His appointment strengthens our engineering casualty investigation and expert services globally, and I'm looking forward to seeing the team grow under his leadership."
