We are delighted to announce that Captain Roland Orange has been appointed to the Lloyd's Panel of Special Casualty Representatives (SCRs). Roland brings extensive expertise in salvage and casualty management gained through decades of hands-on experience, and this appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his contributions to the marine industry.
Based in Shanghai, Roland's appointment provides significant strategic advantage for Solis Marine's clients operating in China and the wider Asia-Pacific region. His local presence ensures faster response times and greater accessibility for vessel owners, insurers, and P&I clubs facing maritime casualties in one of the world's busiest shipping regions.
Roland has been instrumental in establishing and developing Solis Marine's Shanghai office, building the company's shipping incident investigation and casualty response capabilities throughout China. He brings extensive command experience in the operations of LPG, chemical gases, and LNG gas carriers, with additional experience on bulk tankers, product tankers, chemical tankers, general cargo vessels, offshore support vessels, and ro-ro vessels.
His extensive experience conducting investigations into collisions, groundings, cargo disputes, fish farm damage, and unsafe port and berth claims has made him a trusted advisor to owners, managers, charterers, insurers, and law firms across the region. Roland's casualty response work has included attendance at numerous major incidents, from vessels damaged during the 2011 tsunami in Japan to various major casualties in China in recent years and ongoing wreck removal operations in Vietnam, demonstrating his ability to manage complex salvage operations from first response through to wreck removal completion.
Roland has provided expert evidence at arbitration hearings in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai and Singapore, and has appeared as a witness of fact in the London Courts. His reports have also been used in the Ningbo Maritime Court of the P.R. China.
Solis Marine CEO, Ros Blazejczyk said: "We are very pleased to congratulate Roland on his appointment to the Lloyd's Panel of SCRs. Having an SCR based in Shanghai significantly strengthens our ability to support clients across China and Asia, where the maritime industry continues to grow in both scale and complexity. Roland's appointment brings our total to five SCRs across our UK, Singapore, and China offices, further enhancing our global casualty response capabilities."
